Affordable, Yet Chic Layered Bedding Ideas
New bedding is a straightforward and budget-friendly way to give your bedroom an upgrade. Comforter sets, high-quality sheets, and decorative pillows are a great way to layer your bed and make it so that you never want to leave!
What to Look for
Many retailers do the work for you when they sell comforter sets. Many comforter sets include a fitted sheet, a top sheet, a duvet cover, two pillowcases, and two shams.
Sometimes they include one decorative pillow and a bed skirt. The downside to purchasing comforter sets is that you have fewer options to customize your purchase.
If you decide to purchase everything individually, you have more control over the look that you create, but it can also increase your overall budget. It also takes time to find items that match.
To simplify your shopping experience, we share various modern bedroom design ideas that feature layered bedding on queen and king-size beds. Enjoy!

1) Purchase High-Quality Fitted Sheets
The fitted sheets you choose for your bed can make or break the look of your bedding. Your bedding is not only for looks; it is meant to be functional. You need to make sure that your sheets are comfortable and durable. You want soft and luxurious sheets, but most importantly, they need to be made of quality fabric.

2) Duvet Covers or Comforters
Choose between purchasing a duvet cover or a comforter. Comforters are usually thicker, while duvet covers are filled with feathers or another soft material. Duvet covers are easier to clean and are more economical, but comforters are much more popular in the United States. As long as you don’t lay on them, you don’t need to worry about washing them very often.

3) Add Euro Shams and Colorful Throw Pillows
Look for colorful throw pillows to liven up your bedroom with pops of color and texture. Decorative pillows are very affordable and come in all sorts of colors. This is a great way to add color to your bed without being too bold.
4) Combine Different Textures
With this bed set, you can see that the comforter and shams are a very soft and fluffy texture. The decorative pillows and throw blankets are made up of a crochet pattern. Place the throw blanket on the foot of your bed to create a chic look.
This bed set has a very luxurious feel with the use of different textures. It is perfect for a modern bedroom with a farmhouse style or coastal theme.

Bold contrasts can add plenty of definition to your space. You can accomplish this look by choosing two bold colors that complement each other. This bed has white and light gray bedding with black and dark gray accent pillows and blankets.
It is the use of color that makes this space stand out. If you want to make this bed set work for you, stick with neutral colors like black, gray, white, and then purchase decorative throw pillows to make it pop.

Use a bench or bedroom storage to place at the foot of your bed. These pieces can add a lot of function and style to your space, especially when they are in your favorite color.

7) Install a Colorful Headboard
In addition to bedding or a comforter set, you could consider purchasing a headboard to really amp up the design of your master bedroom. In many cases, it’s more affordable to purchase a simple bed frame and box spring and then attach a stylish headboard to it.

Hi Jennifer,
First I would ask the size of the room and where natural light would enter the space. If it is a smaller room maybe paint an accent wall light blue. If it is a darker space go with a lighter color and use artwork to bring in the coastal. Add some texture with a lamp or chair to bring it all together. I hope that helps:)
